New Beginnings is a non-profit organization (120-496 NPO) situated in Bloemfontein, South Africa. Our goal is to provide hope and help to both people and pets in need. We focus on a variety of charity work – mostly in Bloemfontein. Our primary objective is to BE the change we want to see in our community. We help bring change to the community not only through our regular community outreaches and annual Christmas projects but also through rescue and rehabilitation of needy, abused, neglected and starved pets. We have a beautiful Rescue Centre that is a safe haven for abused and neglected animals. We run all our projects from here. At our Rescue Centre, We focus mainly on the rescue and rehabilitation of needy animals. The need amongst these animals is so high and so many animals die daily because of abuse, neglect, and starvation, that we have decided to put our main focus on rescuing animals like these. We want to provide new beginnings to animals who stood no chance. We don’t re-home people’s pets, we don’t take in drop-offs, we only rescue. We use all our finances, resources, space, and time on animals who would have died if we didn’t come to their rescue. This is our passion. We take in the misunderstood animals, the old animals who only knew of suffering, the less attractive animals, the mixed breeds, the less adoptable ones. We take on difficult cases. It is easy to re-home happy pedigree animals and call yourself a rescue organization, but it is not that easy to actually do real rescue work; to step up and be the voice of the voiceless; to go where no one wants to go, get your hands dirty and to save those who are often overlooked.

We have a kennel project where we build kennels and hand them out in less privileged areas. When working in these areas on a weekly basis, we try to alleviate suffering in any way we can. We do this by handing out blankets, bowls, food, replacing wire, chain, and rope with leather collars, and providing basic medical care to the animals. When possible, we also provide some necessities or food to the people. We also set up running wires in these areas for the chained-up dogs to move around more freely and we educate and encourage as far as we go. We treat not only the animals with the utmost respect, but our motto is also that at the end of every leash, is a human being. We, therefore, treat everyone with respect – whether they deserve it or not. We believe that you can only change the world through love.

We also provide a stepping stone to less privileged families by helping to fulfil their basic daily needs by providing them with food, school supplies, and toiletries, to mention but a few. We help where the need arises, whether it is in poor communities, orphanages, old age homes, or anywhere we can make a difference.

We have huge plans for the future. We will be creating many more new beginnings and taking on new projects like animal therapy and job creation in rural areas. We have a Facebook page where we share all our rescue stories, before and after photos as well as all the animals who are ready to be adopted. Please like our page and become part of creating new beginnings!
